We must take immediate businesslike action to limit climate change to
2 degrees C, not for ourselves, but for future generations.

You can see why the EU is pressing to limit climate change to 2 degrees C.  More in Climate Facts.  So let's face facts and get on with the job in a businesslike manner !

If you believe in ...

      > acting without delay  on climate change,

      > supporting a strong enterprising economy,

      > protecting the environment,

      > responsible small 'l' liberal values,

then your support now will make all the difference!

Conservatives for Climate and Environment is a federally registered political party formed in early 2007 by concerned people from around Australia,  frustrated by the lack of voting options for economic conservatives who value the environment, take climate change seriously, and take a responsible approach to social issues.

Our government has done well economically, taking a disciplined balanced-budget approach to our economy, and creating a better economic future for Australians.   This is  what "good conservatism" is all about - discipline, planning, execution and worthwhile outcomes.

At the same time there is a desperate need for the same type of discipline and  balanced budget for Climate Climate Change must be limited to  2 degrees C (3x the current amount) to avoid dangerous levels of climate interference. (see Climate Facts)  Clearly, once any climate objective is set, then action must commence as early as possible to avoid much more severe action as the deadline approaches, or worse - exceeding the 2 degree mark altogether.  The major missing link here is a Carbon Tax to drive emissions reduction right down the chain from R&D trough industry and to the consumer.  Despite containing the unpopular "tax" word, it creates certainty from the start.  Emissions trading schemes have the same potential, and are better than nothing, but are susceptible to political interference and overallocation, as the European carbon price collapse shows.

So now we need to manage  two budgets, economic and environmental.  They must both be taken  seriously, and they must both work together.  We need  to apply "good conservatism" without delay - discipline, planning and execution to protect the environment in a businesslike manner !
